2 Uruzgan women lose lives; 13 militants killed in operation

TIRINKOT (Pajhowk): Two womeninfo-icon have been killed mysteriously in two incidents of violence in central Uruzgan province, officials said on Thursday.

Mirwais, deputy police chief for the 1st police district of Tirinkot, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incidents took place in the 4th police district.

He said a woman shot herself dead on Wednesday, with the initial investigation indicating the woman was a drug addict. Domestic violence was also a reason behind her suicide.

Abdul Haseeb, a resident of the area, confirmed the incident. But he was unaware of details.

Mirwais added another woman was killed mysteriously in Nyazi area. No one has so far been arrested in connection with the incident, but police have launched investigations.

According to another report, at least 13 Talibaninfo-icon insurgents were killed and six others wounded during an ongoing operation in Chora district.

Col. Rahmat Shah Qemati, commander for the fourth brigade of the Afghan National Army, said security forces suffered no casualties in the offensive.
