Green economy: 40 plants displayed in Badakhshan

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Agricultureinfo-icon on Thursday launched a survey to identify diseases and insects attacking crops in northeastern Badakhshan province.

Eng. Atiqullah Sherzad, the plant protection department head at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MAIL), said practical survey of plant diseases would be implemented in all districts and completed within a year.

Eng Mohammad Alam Alami, agriculture department head, said the survey would identify diseases and pests, the main problem of farmers in Badakhshan.

According to another report, 40 types of plants were showcased at a day-long show by the Womeninfo-icon’s Empowerment Centre in Kishim district.

Ahmaduddin Faizi, director of the Women’s Green Business Initiative at WEC, said the program was funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the plants introduced had been collected and processed by women.
