Insurgents attack Takhar public health workers

KUNDUZ CITY/TALOQAN/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon militants attacked a vehicle carrying public healthinfo-icon workers in northern Takhar province, while two womeninfo-icon were killed in separate incidents, officials said on Wednesday.

Hayatullah Amiri, administrative chief of the Khanabad district of Kunduz province, told Pajhwok Afghan News the rebels assaulted a vehicle of Takhar public health officers in Khwaja Pasti area in the morning.

He said two workers were injured and their vehicle damaged in the incident. “Only two men were traveling in the car that came under Taliban rocket strike,” he added.

The injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment but they were in critical condition, Amiri said. But the insurgents have not yer commented on the incident.

According to another report, a girl was shot dead in the Khwaja Bahauddin district of Takhar. Police spokesman Maj. Abdul Khalil Aseer said the 17 years old Fatima was killed inside her house.

On the ther hand, the victim's family said the girl had committed suicide by shooting herself. However, police could not find any evidence to supplort that claim.

A resident of Khwaja Bahauddin, Sawabuddin, revealed the girl was shot dead in her house’s bathroom. He accused Fatima's family of refusing to divulge details of the incident.

Elsewhere, a woman was gunned down in eastern Nangarhar province. The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said the woman was killed by unidentified gunmen in the first police district of Jalalabad on Tuesday evening.

“This woman, who was seriously wounded in the shooting, succumbed to her injuries at hospital,” he said. No one has been arrested in connection with the murder, but a hunt for the killers is underway.
