Modi renews support for Afghanistan, hails Trump policy

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Indian Prime Minister Modi, during his meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, has renewed his country's continued commitment to Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The Indian Security Council advisor assisted Modi at the meeting, the Ministry of Externalinfo-icon Affairs in Delhi said. Rabbani appreciated Indian contributions to Afghanistan's reconstructions.

Modi pointed to India-funded development projects in Afghanistan, saying Delhi strongly supported the war-torn nation in fighting terrorism. He also hailed President Donald Trump's new Afghan policy.

Rabbani, who also backed the new US strategy for Afghanistan, called for making the Chabahar port operational at the earliest.

Four agreements on bilateral cooperation in different areas were also signed during the foreign minister's visit.
