President Ghani says Shpoon’s death a big loss

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has expressed his sorrow over the death of author, poet and novelist Saduddin Shpoon and called his death a big loss for Afghanistaninfo-icon.

The legendry writer and poet passed away at the age of 85 in a hospital in the United States of America yesterday.

A statement from the Presidential Palace quoted President Ghani as saying that Shpoon served Afghanistan’s literature and culture as a writer, poet and a scholar and had a big role in awakening the people and creating enthusiasm through his novels and stories.

“Shpoon was compelled to leave his country by the war and insecurity, but he never stopped working for the betterment of Afghanistan. He also served his people as a journalist.”

The president expressed his condolences to Shpoon’s family, friends and fans and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
