HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials said thousands more of families were deprived of electricity after militants destroyed another power pylon in western Herat province on Tuesday.

Governor’s spokesman, Jilani Farhad, told Pajhwok Afghan News militants blew up the pylon carrying electricity from neighboring Iran to Afghanistaninfo-icon this morning.

“Thousands of people are plunged into darkness after militants destroyed two lines transferring electricity from Turkmenistan and Iran in two days,” he said.

On Sunday night, the Talibaninfo-icon blew up an electricity tower in Rubat Sangi district of the province, Farhad added. He said technical teams were on the site to fix the issue.

A resident of Herat City, Jamil said, “We are without electricity since two days, we are facing many problems like no water for drink in this hot weather.”
