15 projects kicked off in Kunduz, says mayor

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Municipality officials in northern Kunduz province on Wednesday announced launching work on 15 projects including concreting sub alleyways in the provincial capital.

Mayor Najibullah Omarkhel said the launch of the development projects and construction of culverts and cemented walls would provide jobs for dozens of people.

“Under the schemes launched today, more than a kilometer of road will be asphalted, a bridge erected and some wells concreted. Cemented walls as well as a park and toilets will be built in the city.”

The mayor the projects would cost $500,000 provided by UNHABITAT office.

Bismillah, a resident of 4th police district, said he was pleased with the launch of reconstructioninfo-icon work in Kunduz after years of fighting.

He said Kunduz streets turned into water pools during rains when people remained indoors to avoid inconvenience
