Return of Waziristan families from Afghanistan resumes

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok):  Tribal families who fled to Afghanistaninfo-icon as a result of a military offensive in North Waziristan Agency are all poised to start returning home today (Monday), an official said.

About 1,200 individuals will return North Waziristan via the Ghulam Khan crossing point, Political Agent Kamran Khan Afridi told journalists. A centre has been established near the check-post to issued the returnees with registration cards.

The returnees will be taken to the Bakakhel camp in Bannu before being sent back to their homes. Around 6,000 people of North Waziristan are currently residing in Afghanistan’s southeaster Khost province.
