KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The municipality on Friday announced launching a campaign for removing security barricades from roads in the central capital Kabul in cooperation with security organs.

The campaign was launched in compliance with a Cabinet decision a day earlier, a spokesman for the Kabul Municipality, Jalil Sultani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said barricades on the airport road, in front of the Kabul Garrison and other areas were removed on Friday as part of the campaign which would continue for several days.

Acting mayor Abdullah Habibzai on his Facebook wrote that the security barricades in Kabul had been divided into three categories --- necessary, somehow necessary and unnecessary. He said the campaign was launched on Friday and would take three months to be wound up.
