KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General, Dr Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, strongly condemned Daesh gunmen attack on a television and radio station in Jalalabad, a statement from the organization said on Thursday.

Alarmed by the heinous nature of the attack on civilians, which he described as an attempt by some extremist elements to undermine the role of the media in nation building, Al-Othaimeen added that the attack was also a clear violation of the International Law, an OIC statement said.

The Secretary-General also urged the Afghanistaninfo-icon authorities not to relent in their sustained efforts of fighting terrorism, and urged that the perpetrators of the crime be prosecuted.

He also offered his condolences to the families of the victims, and to the people and government of Afghanistan.

Al-Othaimeen reiterated that the OIC vigorously denounced all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations, just as it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.

According to reports, four assailants wearing suicide vests carrying AK-47s entered state broadcaster Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA). One of them had detonated a suicide bomb at the entrance to the compound before others open fire.

The three other attackers were then killed by security forces in the gun battle,
