Ghani invited to attend Saudi summit on ISIS

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Saudi government has invited President Ashraf Ghani to attend an international conference on terrorism and Daesh in the kingdom.

The invitation to the president was extended by the Saudi charge de’affairs, said deputy presidential spokesman, Dawa Khan Menapal.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the Afghan government had not yet decided whether or not to attend the conference in Saudi Arabia.

However, another government official said the president was expected to leave for Saudi Arabia at the head of a high ranking delegation.

Meanwhile, the White House said the international conference on terrorism and Daesh in Saudi Arabia was scheduled to take place next week.

US President Donald Trump will join heads of states and representatives from 56 countries at the summit, the White House said, adding so far leaders of 20 countries had assured their participation in the event
