KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Kabul police on Thursday said they had arrested 192 people accused of different crimes over the past two weeks in the central capital.

Address a press conference, Kabul police chief Brig. Gen. Hassan Shah Frogh said police had put in place new security measures for Kabul city.

He said 192 people had been arrested following the new security measures in the past two weeks in connection with 124 criminal cases

Of the detainees, 14 were accused of murder, 23 of injuring others, seven of stealing cars, 11 of looting houses, 47 of moral crimes, 18 of money extortion and snatching jewelries and two men have been accused of stealing car number plates.

The Kabul police chief said 33 people had been arrested over selling drugs, seven over deception, as many over illegal trafficking of weapons, 20 over highway robbery and six others on mobile phones theft.

A four-member robbery group was busted and two weapons, a walkie-talkie and military uniforms were recovered from them, he said.

Police also seized 10 kilograms of drugs including heroin, opium, crystal and hashish during the period, he said.

He said a hotel was closed and some individuals detained over debauchery activities.
