11 held, drug smuggling bid to India, UAE foiled

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Security personnel have arrested 11 people over drug smuggling charges at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in capital Kabul, the Criminal Justice Task Forces (CJFT) said on Wednesday.

The arrests at the airport were made during the first month of solar yearinfo-icon, a statement from the task force said.

They were caught at the Karzai airport while trying to transfer drugs to Dubai and New Delhi, the statement said.

The drugs recovered from the detainees included four kilograms of heroin and more than three kilograms of hashish.

Border police at the airport had also prevented an attempt to smuggle 60 litres of alcoholic drink to Kabul from New Delhi.
