Massoud fired as Ghani’s advisor on good governance

Massoud fired as Ghani’s advisor on good governance

Apr 18, 2017 - 00:17

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has removed Ahmad Zia Massoud as his special representative for reform and good governance, the Presidential Palace said in a statement on Monday.

The brief statement said Massoud was sacked under Article 64 clause 13 of the Constitution.

What prompted President Ghani to remove Massoud from his job remains unknown but Massoud has lately been critical of the unity government.

Massoud was first vice president from 2004 to 2009 in the first elected government of former president Hamid Karzai.

He ran with then foreign minister Dr. Zalmai Rassoul in the 2014 presidential election, but endorsed candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during the second round of the election.
