PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A senior Trump administration official has urged Pakistaninfo-icon’s civilian and military leadership to combat all terrorist groups without any discrimination.

US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster conveyed Pakistani leadership the message during his daylong trip to Islamabad on Monday. One source called the message loud and clear.

The NSA held meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua and Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa.

Gen McMaster, on a swing through the region for consultations on the Trump administration’s policy on Afghanistaninfo-icon, stressed the need to confront terrorism in all its forms, the US Embassy said.

Pakistani leaders expressed their willingness to engage with the US for achieving peace in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister’s House and Foreign Office said in separate statements.

Sharif and Aziz expressed their “readiness to work with the international community to explore ways of resolving the crisis in Afghanistan.

Separately, COAS Gen Bajwa and the visiting dignitary discussed Pakistan-US relations, defence cooperation and regional security issues.
