50pc extra orchards grown this spring: MAIL
The increase in establishment of orchards this spring came in response to people’s requests and efforts of MAIL experts, a MAIL statement said.
The ministry was to plant fruit orchards on 10,000 acres of land as part of 1396 spring campaign, but now grew orchards on 15,000 acres, the statement said.
Certified almond, apricot, plum, pear, grapes, peach, apple, pistachio, and pomegranate seedlings were planted in the new orchards, the statement said, attributing the increase to efforts of experts with MAIL.
The spring tree plantation drive starts in early February and lasts until March’s end in hot areas and from March till late April in cold areas.
According to MAIL, standardized fruit orchards will be grown over 7,500 acres of land in fall season of the year.
