SHARANA (Pajhwok): The strike embarked upon by a number of university teachers in southeastern Paktika province entered a third day on Wednesday.

The striking teachers said the university administration was treating them indifferently, a claim the university administration rejected.

One of the teachers, Najibullah Omari, told Pajhwok Afghan News the university administration was discriminating against them and had withheld their rights.

He said 17 teachers of the university had gone on strike against the discrimination, blocking of academic development, not creating the academic council and damaging assets of the university.

Paktika university chancellor Darya Khan Hasand told Pajhwok Afghan News that the striking teachers had taken the law into their hands by disrupting the teaching process.

He said the protesting teachers wanted to protect their own interests. He said the teachers had taken away attendance registers of some faculties.

Students of the university said the protesting teachers and the university administration should not waste time in resolving the issue.

Higher Educationinfo-icon Ministry spokesman Faisal Amin said an authorized delegation was being sent to the university to resolve the issue.
