KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon's fast-improving cricket team, which has notched up spectacular wins in recent years, is all poised for Test status, chief coach Lalchand Rajput claimed on Tuesday.

"Afghanistan is ready for Test cricket and our performances have shown it as we are winning consistently after I have taken over as head coach," the Press Tust of India quoted Rajput as saying.

Afghanistan was waiting for the International Cricket Council meeting to be held ular in April, the head coach said. "We are all hopeful that Afghanistan get the Test status as we are ready for it.

"Afghanistan will become a force in Test cricket in the years to come. The way they are progressing, I believe, they will come in the top-six in 2-3 years' time," Rajput remarked.

Rajput, who has been Afghanistan's head coach since June 2016, called his job a life-changing experience. He acknowledged the meteoric rise of the Afghans and their commitment to consistent improvement.
