Avalanche blocks district roads in Bamyan
KABUL (Pajhwok): An enormous avalanche blocked two districts’ roads to the capital of central Bamyan province, leaving passengers at great trouble to reach to their destinations, an official said Wednesday.
The avalanche rolled down from a mountain on Tuesday on the roads of Punjab and Waras districts of Bamyan province.
Mohammad Amin Warsi, a passenger told Pajhwok Afghan News that more than 200 passengers including children and women of 60 vehicles were waiting for clearance of the route.
Provincial Natural Disaster Management Authority Chief Ahmad Reza Rafat, said the passengers too refuges in local villages and hotels.
He said that the avalanche also destroyed parts of Punjab road but an excavator had been sent to the area to open the route for traffic.
