Contracts for projects worth 650m afs signed

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) on Sunday signed contracts for three development projects worth 650 million afghanis with private companies.

RRD Minister Nasir Ahmad Durani, while signing the contracts here, said the projects included construction of 38 kilometers of road, 226 meters of bridges and a school building.

The projects would be implemented in Baghlan, Logar, Parwan, Sar-i-Pul, Uruzgan,  Khost, Samangan, Ghorinfo-icon and Nuristan provinces.

The minister said the schemes would be completed in one year. Six kilometers of roads would be graveled while 32 kilometers would be reconstructed and asphalted, Durani added.

He said the projects would generate job opportunities for around 241,000 people in the provinces.

He asked the private companies to perform their works in line with the contracts.

“The MRRD won’t tolerate any lack of transparency in the schemes’ execution,” Durain said.

Representatives of the companies said they would implement the schemes according to their contracts.

The projects are being implemented under the National Road Construction Program of MRRD.

According to the ministry, more than 700 kilometers of roads and 1,700 meters of bridges would be built in the current solar yearinfo-icon.

So far, 5,600 kilometers road and 4,900 meters bridges had been constructed in different provinces under the National Road Construction Program.
