7 Afghans killed in Pakistan accident

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Seven members of an Afghan refugee family were killed when a sand-laden truck fell on a house in Quetta, the capital of Pakistaninfo-icon’s southwestern Baluchistan province, a security official said on Tuesday.

Police official Aslam Bokhari said the truck was about to unload sand when the accident happened. The make-shift house belonged to Afghan refugee Sher Mohammad.

Mohammad himself escaped unhurt but his four children were killed along with two womeninfo-icon and a man. Quetta has several illegal Afghan refugee settlements built on its outskirts, mainly made up of makeshift mud houses.

Pakistan is currently home to 1.5 million registered and almost a million unregistered Afghan refugees, who fled to safety from their war-torn homeland.
