2-week cleanliness drive kicks off in Faryab capital
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A two-week cleanliness campaign was launched in Maimana city, the capital of northwestern Faryab province, on Wednesday, an official said.
The campaign, led by Maimana municipality, is being attended by around 200 municipality workers, local residents and officials.
Governor Sayed Anwar Sadat, who also participated in the campaign to encourage local residents, stressed people’s cooperation in the process to have a healthier new Afghan year that begins on March 22.
Sadat urged common people to participate in the cleanliness drive, saying the Turkish government had promised cooperation with Maimana municipality in technical and training areas and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had also been signed in this regard.
Mohammad Asif Payman, consultative council head at the municipality, told Pajhwok Afghan News that they had the plan to extend the campaign to districts as well.
He said the campaign aimed at cleaning Maimana and several district bazaars would continue for two weeks.
