Germany won’t deport Afghan refugees: Alemi
KABUL (Pajhwok): In the wake of an attack on the German embassy in Kabul, Berlin has decided to halt deportation of Afghan refugees, the minister of refugees says.
Under the German interior ministry’s decision, only those Afghans involved in criminal offences would be sent back home, Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi said in an interview.
Speaking to 1TV, he said the Merkel administration took the decision after an investigation into a massive truck bomb attack on its embassy in Kabul.
Balkhi is optimistic that Sweden too would deal with the Afghan refugees the way Germany did. “Swedish officials have assured me that they would treat them according to the laws and conventions.”
A number of refugees gathered in front of the Swedish parliament against the planned deportation of Afghan asylum seekers.
